Reactive: People w/o high blood pressure can transiently have high #s w/stress. Most nosebleeds will stop with 15 minutes of continuous direct pressure--means no peeking, checking, whatever. Use a clock and time it. Tilt head back a little may help, cold pack over nasal bridge may help. Once stopped, have afrin spray in case restarts to shrink vessels. Er visit only if two 15 min trials fail or get dizzy.

Bad luck?: Some healthy people have severe nosebleeds--but if was unstoppable he'd have bled to death by now. My BP would go up if my nose wouldn't stop bleeding. An ENT evaluation would tell him if there was a cause.

Nosebleed: High blood pressure is rarely the acute cause of a nosebleed. Typically the stress of having a nosebleed will increase your blood pressure. See an ENT if the nosebleeds recur.
