No: They occur due 2 upset in the normal flora in the vagina, usually caused by taking an antibiotic 4 some other reason. They r treatable, ask ur gyn, or pcp 4 recommendation 4 treatment.

Other reasons: Might be possible that you've taken a medication - antibiotic - that imbalanced the vaginal environment. Hormone replacement can do it, too. A hormonal imbalance(high estrogen) is possible from diabetes, hiv, etc. Keeping the area clean - but without douching! - is important. But probably faulty cleaning did not cause it. Wipe front to back, cotton panties, loose clothes, change tampons/pads often.
