Could be depression: Having trouble staying asleep could be one symptom of depression. While this happens to everyone once in awhile, if the trouble persists, you might want to mention it to your doctor.

Not that unusual: Many people have these types of patterns, where an inner clock alarm goes off and alters your sleep. Possibly keep a diary, noting what you ate the night before, what time you went to bed, how you felt, meds, supplements, etc. Possibly try sleeping in another room or bed to test what happens.
