Depends: Your seeing an orthopedist for a problem, and have no details on the problem. A nerve conduction velocity (ncv) tests the peripheral nerves (nerves outside the central nervous sytem, which consists of brain and spinal cord). So the orthopedist must feel that your condition may involve the peripheral nervous system, and so yes. If you want further opinion, then a neurologist is the specialist 2 c.
