Often occurs: As the swelling in a surgical site reduces, the feeling often begins to return gradually. At that time nerves begin to awaken, may become extra-sensitive (like when a dental local anesthetic is wearing off). Do not rub the area, as that may irritate the forming scar tissues. If persists, return to treating doctor for exam. Nerve return and itching is very gradual to resolve in many cases.
