Vit. D Deficiency: Osteomalacia is becoming more common producing unexpected fractures and stress reactions of the bones. Vitamin d deficiency is the most common form and is noted to be more common than expected. Unexpected fractures and recurrent fractures raise suspicion for this problem and merit a metabolic bone workup. If detected, it can be treated with supplements, effectively preventing future fractures.
