Still curious if mrsa and cellulitis are the same infection?

No they are not.: Cellulitis is a potentially serious infection of the skin that can be caused by several different bacteria, including staph aureus. Mrsa is a type of staph aureus that is resistant to many antibiotics, and is harder to treat because of this. But MRSA can also cause other types of infection in addition to cellulitis.

Completely different: Mrsa stands for methicillin-resistent staph aureus -- a type of bacteria that causes infections on the skin and elsewhere. Cellulitis is a general term for infections of the skin, regardless of the type of bacteria that is causing them.

Condition vs cause: Mrsa is a bacteria. Cellulitis is a visible inflammation (itis) of skin and soft tissues (red, hot, swollen and tender) . It can be caused by many things including sunburn (radiation), trauma (sprained ankle) or poor vein circulation (stasis dermatitis). It need not be caused by bacteria.If you have repeated episodes, get to a wound care or vascular specialist, the diagnoses you have is wrong!
