What kind of cheat?: Some things should just become a habit. I avoid eat egg yolks except a small piece of cake at a celebration. I like egg white omelets. I use1% milk + i'm very used to it, except occasional cheese or low fat ice cream. Red meat - yes maybe 1-2 a week but only lean cuts, trim the fat. I never touch bacon. If you want that taste just put some nice lean canadian bacon on the griddle.

Once a week: If you cheat a little you will less likely feel deprived. Just don't overdo it.

What's right for you: Cholesterol is largely genetic. Diet has a limited role in managing high cholesterol. Truth be told, I'd rather see you exercising hard as part of a fitness-focused lifestyle. A slice of pizza or a nice greaseburger when you feel like it isn't a coffin nail. I'd rather you get with what's comfortable for you, and then make a decision about medication based on what you can tolerate.
