Should not be taken: With Percocet and hydrocodome. Interesting that he views Suboxone as the problem. If it is prescription Suboxone he needs to come clean with the prescriber about the other drugs. If it is street bought, he should set up an appointment with a certified Suboxone prescriber who can guide him through the process and get him into appropriate other forms of treatment.

Slowly decrease dose: Subpoxone and subutex are both opiates. They will produce dependence if taken long enough. To stop using, reduce about 10% of dose q 4 days. Can use Clonidine to reduce any withdrawal symptoms. Not craving in the future is a more challenging issue. Here a combination of therapy, education, and perhaps naltraxone oral or injections may be useful. Recovery career is 5 years.
