what's the difference between herpes and tiny boils?

Dr. Morris Westfried
45 years experience Dermatology
Virus vs bacteria: Herpes is caused by virus which can be treated by antivirals such as zovirax (acyclovir). Boils are caused by bacteria such as staph and strep and are treated by oral or topical antibiotics.Occasionally herpes can become secondarily infected with bacteria superimposed on herpes infection.
