Cervical disc diseas: Since you had a scan it sounds like you have symptoms. If you have symptoms, you need to have a v. Good neurologist & v. Good spine surgeon to evaluate your situation & communicate. Sometimes physical therapy is enough to help stabilize but some need surgery. Surgery is not a panacea: some get relief, some have halting of progressive symptoms & some have no resolution what so ever. Good luck!

Depends : This would depend on the symptoms as well as how large is the disc protrusion? If there are severe neurologic symptoms like weakness of the arm, trouble walking, bowel or bladder dysfunction-and there is spinal cord compression seen on the MRI scan, then surgery is recommended. This would likely be an anterior cervical disc excision. If there are no/minimal symptoms, consider conservative measures.
