Inflammation: The presence of green mucus is usually an indication of an inflammatory process. The green color actually has been shown to be secondary to the breakdown of inflammatory cells such as white blood cells, macrophages and other normal cells in our body that fight inflammation and infection. Like (yuk) snot. If this has been going on for weeks, it's time to find out why.
