Complications: A second-degree burn (partial-thickness burn) involves the dermis (middle layer of skin) & is swollen, red/pink & painful. Blisters develop which seeps clear liquid. It may take a long time to heal & can lead to contractures because of the skin shrinking. Infections can be a complication.
