Maybe reflux, but...: If symptoms originate in esophagus (rather than adjacent structures), the most common cause of your complaint is gastroesophageal reflux possibly accompanied by esophageal dysmotility. However, my answer changes if you have underlying cardiac, pulmonary, or mediastinal conditions.
