Can b-12 injections mask other problems?

Possibly: Occasionally there may be combined iron and vitamin b12 deficiencies. Treatment with b12 would not treat the associated iron deficiency. That is why physicians don't prescribe b12 injections unless the workup determined the exact cause or causes of the anemia.

No: Note that there is no benefit except to prevent or correct B12 deficiency. Also note that oral B12 is as effective as injections.
