Normal: The bumps are called circumvellate papillae. Usually they are in a v shape at the base of the tongue. A normal number of these papillae are 8 to 12. These are taste buds.

Normal bumps: There are normal bumps on the back of your tongue. Tis may be what you are looking at. Ou did not say if you have any pain, burning, swelling altered taste or any other symptoms. So these bumps most likely are nothing to worry about. But if you have other symptoms you should s we a dentist for an exam.
