A member asked:

Can internal and external hemorrhoids interfere with bowel movements?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Hemorrhoids are enlarged blood vessels under the 'skin ' of the anal canal, like varicose veins. If they are not inflamed they may be painless and cause no interference with bowel movements. But if they are inflamed or engorged, they can be very painful and that may interfere with bowel movements, usually causing constipation, which worsens the condition (a vicious cycle).
