Knee pain: Indeed, it could be arthritis. Your primary care provider will sort it out with an xray and/or refer you to an orthopedist.

MRI: If you have had pain for 4 years and seen several physicians, i'd assume that you had an MRI done. This might show some inflammation or wear on the undersurface of your kneecap or the joint line. If all is normal, consider an evaluation by a rheumatologist
