I can't break it : Into hours. You need to earn a bachelor's degree. Although there are some combined programs- most medical schools are four years long. This followed by a year of internship. However, apart from class room time - the number of hours spent in study varies between individuals.

A lot: Depending on how well you want to learn as much as you can, the hours that one individual must study varies greatly. I studied and reviewed my notes every day until early am and this habit served me well to excel in my class.
