Long time for pinky: It takes a long time for pinky 5th toes to heal. Usually prolonged swelling causes discomfort. If it continues see your foot doctor for a x/ray and treatment.

Nail hurts: Often on hammertoe surgery the small, toe swells a lot formamwhile and can irritate the nail while in shoes. Talk to your surgeon about this, there are things to help.

Pinky : As stated there can be swelling to cause pain as well as being another problem unique to the nail . Your best solution is to see your treating physician for assistance.

If the nail : Hurts usually it is either too thick, ingrown , infected, or your walking on it due to its shape or there is a bone growth under it. I would consider removing the nail temporarily. See if you get pain relief after it is avulsed.....
