Abdominal Hystrectom: There must be a good reason that your doctor has decided to do abdominal. Large fibroids, adhesion to surrounding organs, previous pelvic inflammation are some of the few reasons to choose this approach. The abdominal wound heals quickly, you may be in the hospital one or two days, refrain from heavy lifting, constipation and abdominal exercises for six weeks, let the wound heal well to avoid herni.

Longer recovery: That may be the best way to perform your surgery, but the quickest and easiest recovery comes after vaginal and/or laparoscopic hysterectomy. You should talk to your doctor about a robotic approach to your surgery - if your doctor does not do robotic assisted hysterectomies he would probably be happy to refer you to someone who does.
