Depends: Pain in the back on the side or "flank" pain can be due to kidney stones. Yellow urine? Do you mean dark urine? Small amounts of blood in the urine will tinge it dark. Kidney stones and kidney infections can be very painful. It is worth getting evaluated and seeing if there is an easy fix to your condition. It could also just be muscle strain in your back.

Uti: First thought is a urinary tract infection (UTI) both change in urine color and back pain ate symptoms. I would have my urine checked by my primary care doc to see if I have a UTI and go from there. Hope you feel better soon!
