Sweating: If you went straight to bed after a football game and are sweating it may be normal phenomena as your body metabolism is increased and you produce lot of heat, sweating helps cool you down. Worse case scenario for night sweats could be TB or lymphoma (type of cancer), consult your md if you have been having night sweats or drenching night sweats.

Sweating in sleep: Don't go directly to osa as you mentioned. Many other problems can cause nocturnal sweating. Discuss with your primary doctor first. Need expert nasal exam, abdominal imaging is a possibility and cxr, maybe TB test , some people need cardiac work up.
