A member asked:

Is holding my breath under water for a long period of time bad for my health?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: You may have seen this in the movies. It offers no health benefits. It's very dangerous unless you have somebody to pull your face out if you lose consciousness. We pathologists call it "shallow water blackout." in fact, the hero of the movie that popularized it, jay moriarty, probably died in real life from an overlong free dive. I love the water and urge you to be safe at all times.
