Antihistamines: Yes. There are a number of them. Many available only by prescription. Different ones have different side effects. See your doctor to discuss which would be best for you.

Newer 2nd generation: Claritin (loratadine) and zyrtec have become available over the counter. Strong, non-drowsy, some like them better - more costly though. Also, get suggestions from pharmacist. Good luck.

Several: New generation antihistamines should provide as much relief without the drowsy and other side effects of benadryl (diphenhydramine). Since many are otc and generic (zyrtec, claritin, allegra) they can be very inexpensive and only used once a day instead of 4x a day. Prescription antihistamines such as xyzal can be effective but not necessarily significantly stronger. The most effect med is nasal steroid sprays.
