Bv: Vaginal Metronidazole and vaginal Cleocin (clindamycin phosphate) are best although the oral medicine works as well. There is also tindamax.

See below: Bv is a synergistic infection involving gardnerella and a number of other, anaerobic bacteria. It is treated with Metronidazole oral or intravaginal treatment. Tinidazole and Clindamycin are alternatives. Oral and intravaginal probiotics containing lactobacilli can help.

Yes: There are several different antibiotics that are commonly prescribed for bacterial vaginosis. One is a vaginal ointment and others are pills taken by mouth. Most women with BV need an antibiotic to clear the infection. Bv is one of the common infections women get.
