Not always known: 20% of men who were abused as children go on to develop pedophilia. However, a large number of pedophiles have no sexual abuse history but were abandoned, beaten, starved etc or were raised in the most solid households this country has to offer. Some simply have no conscience or no ability to empathize with the plight of their victims, other than to get off on it. May the law never soften its stance against these scourges of society who are mostly untreatable.
