Inflammation, infect: Functional bowel disorders may have diarrhea in response to food (or liquid) entering the gut. They stop if not eating. Secretory diarrheas can continue without eating. These can be seen with infections (e.g. Bacterial or viral), inflammation (e.g. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis), tumors that secrete hormones that cause diarrheas. Risk for dehydration. Some of these can be serious-see md.
