Influenza: Influenza is caused by a virus and not like strep which is a bacterial infection. Since viruses do not respond to viruses, symptomatic care is in order. This consists of plenty of fluids, rest, and fever fighting drugs like tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen. You can expect the flu to run 7-10 days.
