High false-positives: It is theoretically positive to get influenza type a during august (see http://www.Cdc.Gov/flu/weekly/), but the chance that the rapid flu test reported a false positive is quite high. See http://www.Cdc.Gov/flu/professionals/diagnosis/rapidlab.Htm. If truly flu a, recovery now is no different versus during normal flu season.

Supportive care: If the symptoms have been present more than three days, antiviral drugs in the form of tamiflu (oseltamivir) will not work. Therefore fluids, rest and antipyretics are in order. You can expect the flu to be present 7-10 days. Goodluck.
