Had tkr may-- manipulation 1 wk ago. how long before walking normal? at 108 degree. swollen pain medial and behind knee?

Let me explain: When you have manipulation after tkr this means several things: 1-physical therapy was not adequate? 2-mechnical problem in the knee prosthesis. 3-tissue contracture around the knee. 4-pain from many sources in the knee. What your doctor told the reason? You be able to walk normally when the contracture resolved, which may take 2-3 month. The key if you have this problem to treat it aggressively.

TKR: This answer varies significantly from patient to patient. Your goal is at least 120° of flexion. By 3 to 4 months after surgery most people are nearing full recovery. However others heal more slowly and take up to a year to fully recover. Keep working hard with therapy and on a home exercise program to maximize your recovery at your own pace.

TKA manipulation: The biggest determining factor of post op range of motion is amount of pre op contracture. Also, check venous doppler for possible DVT if you have posterior knee pain.
