It depends: Ibs presents itself as constipation predominant , diarrhea predominant or mixed . Sometime patients can have one type and then switch to the other type. If you are constipated , colace (docusate sodium) can be taken in a dose of 50-100mg one to two times a day . When you have regular bowel movement or diarrhea , please stop it . Good luck.
