It depends upon....: The cause of the anemia and the means being used to correct it. For example, transfusion to correct an acute onset anemia can produce almost immediate improvement, while oral fe therapy to correct an fe deficiency state can lead to improvement over the course of days and resolution over a couple of weeks. Some with chronic anemias can accommodate to their low HGB and feel normal with no correction.
