Almost immediately: Bone healing in children is quite remarkable. Even though healing begins quickly after initial treatment by the orthopedic surgeon (casting +/- surgery), it can still take 6-12 weeks of spica casting to ensure proper healing, depending on the nature and location of the fracture itself.
