Down's syndrome ?'s: Fetal femur length is not connected to Down's syndrome. Your OB physician has probably done early ultrasounds of your fetus and at your age, with normal fetal ultrasound at 16-18 weeks, the risks of Down's are minimal. Depending on how much weight you may have gained in pregnancy, the "40th percentile" could be reached by increased soft tissue growth of the fetus.
