Gas in babies: Gas moves through all of us all the time. If our gastro-intestinal system is not functioning or there is some obstruction like constipation, the gas will accumulate. The gas comes out as farts. Most of the 'gas' that babies have is related to uncoordinated intestinal movement and it is indeed painful.
