A member asked:

Can thyroiditis make you lightheaded or groggy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on T4: People with subacute thyroiditis can go through a "hyperthyroid" phase, where T4 is high, and you may have symptoms of hyper (palpitations, tremor, maybe lightheaded). This can be followed weeks-months later by hypothyroidism (cold, groggy, fatigued, etc). In most cases, thyroid returns to normal. Hashimotos thyroiditis is usually more chronic.
