Yes: Germ cell tumors in the brain or in the body can lead to high beta HCG levels. Testicular and ovarian cancers can secrete beta hcg. In the brain these can present as choriocarcinomas. The elevated beta HCG in the blood can be used to screen for these tumors and can also be used to follow the effects of treatment. That is, with effective treatment the levels should decrease.
