Is rubbing alchohol good for hives?

NO: It will irritate and dry out your skin, and it will not stop the release of histamine by the cells that causes the hives. You need an oral antihistamine to settle down the reaction. Even topical Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is not likely to be helpful.
