Usually no cause: A broken blood vessel can cause a bright red blood spot on the white portion of the eye that look bad. They are called subconjunctival hemorrhages. They do not cause any real eye or vision problem unless caused by an injury. If from an injury, see an eye doctor. If spontaneous, they can be recurrent. No rx usually needed. Make sure there is no blood clotting problem.
