Lots of reasons: Definitely abnormal. Could be hormonal reasons, infection in uterus or cervix, could be a uterine polyp or fibroid. If it persists then definitely warrants an evaluation.

21-35 days: Normal periods are every 21-35 days not necessarily once a month. If yours are more frequent or less frequent than this then you may want to schedule a visit with an Obgyn to discuss options for cycle regulation
