Vertigo: The sensation of spinning is called vertigo, and it is often due to a problem in the inner ear. For young healthy people it is usually caused by displacement of tiny particles in the semicircular canals of the inner ear, and is called benign positional vertigo. Mostly it resolves without treatment, but may require certain therapy if it is persisting for weeks.
