When you get a cold, can that set off thyroid symptoms?

Not necessarily: If you take your thyroid med regularly and the thyroid level is well controlled, a cold should not set off thyroid symptoms (since the drug level will not change significantly). There are many cold symptoms that are similar to thyroid symptoms but it probably not a thyroid problem.
