Prostatitis: If you have had 3 episodes it is time to visit the urologist for further examination. Also, Doxycycline is not as effective in getting into the prostate tissue to kill bacteria. A fluoroquinolone antibiotic like Cipro (ciprofloxacin) or Levaquin would be more effective.

Different antibiotic: Chronic prostatitis does not always respond to Doxycycline . Experienced success with levofloxacin. You might ask your physician if changing antibiotics might be of help.
