Foamy urine: Don't discontinue the doxycycline without speaking to your physician. Foamy urine is usually caused by large amounts of protein in the urine. In my experience prostatitis doesn't usually cause a lot of protein in the urine, but prostate cancer, certain kidney disease and many other medical diseases can. Check for proteinuri: Foamy urine is generally caused by increased protein passing thru your kidney into the urine. Most commonly this is due to insufficient fluid intake, with decreased amount of urine. Try drinking several glasses of water each day. If this does not correct the problem in 1-2 days, have your doctor check your urine for protein. If abnormally high, it MAY indeed be caused by doxycycline
