Blood pressure: Blood pressure depends on the stroke volume of the heart and the peripheral vascular resistance. If the resistance falls rapidly unexpectedly pressure will drop, if blood return to the heart drops suddenly decreasing stroke volume, pressure will drop. There are various things that can cause either or both events.
