Avoid: Not a fan of piercing any ear cartilage. Serious problems if the site gets infected.

Patient Choice: I see piercings all the time in various parts of the ear. Which part of the ear someone pierces is personal choice and rarely poses an immediate danger. They can become infected and if so, I recommend the piercing be removed and that patient start antibiotics and keep the area clean. Piercings come down to personal choice and are perfectly reasonable as long as the patient understands the risks
