A member asked:

Is iv insertion to foot recommended to a 1 year old?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: You get an IV in a kid wherever you can find a usable vein and adequately protect it from accidental loss. Feet are fair game in kids and often on of the more easily protected sites. Rarely, we go to the scalp veins before calling a surgeon to open the skin and put in a cutdown.
