A member asked:

Can severe osteoporosis in the neck cause the discs to collapse and make you lose height? and cause horrendous pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes and no.: Severe pain in the neck could come from a collapsed vertebra or from a protruding disc irritating a nerve or the spinal cord. The osteoporosis doses not cause a disc to collapse. Xrays or MRI may help explain the pain.
