A member asked:

Is it a myth using a straightener a lot can cause my hair to not grow as fast?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hair is dead: Protein, and down at the roots where it grows, it doesn't know what's happening at the other end of the hair. Straightener, curler, dyes and any other chemicals plus excessive heat and other physical trauma, however, can damage and weaken the hair protein and cause it to break off leading to hair loss.
